Shortfall of homes

The UK government has been warned by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors that there is a shortfall of 1.8 million rental homes in the UK. The private sector has taken over from the councils and housing associations as the biggest provider of rental homes but stamp duty is having an impact on this now. The stamp duty tax is being called into action along for local authorities holding brownfield sites to be encouraged to release land for build-to-rent developments.
