Great Stall East - Masterplan capital land

NEV Planning Granted

With the finalisation of the S106 agreement outline planning permission has been granted for 1,550 new homes on land at Great Stall East, just south of the A420 to the east of Swindon. The planning application for the development, which was submitted by Capital Land Strategic Planning, will also deliver a new primary and secondary school, a site for a Park and Ride, as well as a sports hub.

The Capital Land team received a resolution to grant August 2020 and finalised the S106 agreement a year later receiving the grant of planning permission at the end of last month. The team progressed immediately on to the next stage of the planning process working up detailed designs and beginning planning work to discharge conditions since the end of summer last year.

Major Infrastructure Completion

The upgrade works to a major piece of infrastructure in Swindon is nearing completion. The White Hart junction has needed a major overhaul for some time and with the New Eastern Villages coming forward developer and Governmental funding has provided the resource necessary for this to take place.

The roundabout was reopened last month following major reconstruction. It is a key piece of infrastructure connecting the New Eastern Villages in the East of Swindon to the Town and major arterial road networks.

The overall £30m White Hart junction improvement scheme is due to be completed in February next year when the new northbound slip road to the A419 will be opened.

The continued progression of this infrastructure is a key milestone in unlocking and bringing the needed social infrastructure and homes forward at The New Eastern Villages.

Capital Land purchase 212-acre site at Swindon’s New Eastern Villages development

Swindon-based Capital Land has completed the purchase of 212 acres of land at New Eastern Villages (NEV) Great Stall East, a significant step in the largest and most important urban regeneration development in the UK.

The next round of detailed planning is in progress and plans are for work to commence on the site in 2022. The Great Stall East development will be approximately 20% of the NEV development and is set to include 1,550 homes, a secondary school, a park and ride, and a sports hub.
